To load the prices for a different share, enter its shortname, or JSE
code, and click on the load button.
Right click on the charting area, or click on the "Options"
button, to change the charting options.

The applet displays a main price stream and provides the functionality to
display one or more indicators for this stream. It also allows one to draw
trend lines, by clicking and dragging the mouse, and to load another price
stream to be used as comparison.
By clicking on the "Options" button, or by clicking the right
mouse button on the main charting area, the options menu will be displayed
which allows one to do the following:
- Specify the type of chart to display:
- OHLC price ranges
- Line graph showing daily high prices
- Line graph showing daily low prices
- Line graph showing daily closing prices
- Candlestick chart
- Select the required price period:
- Daily prices
- Weekly prices
- Monthly prices
- Select the indicators to show in the Stats 1 and/or Stats 2
windows:
- MACD
- RSI
- Momentum
- Stochastics
- Toggle the display of the volume window
- Select Linear/Semi-log scale
- Select an overlay to display on the main charting area:
- Moving averages
- Bollinger bands
- On balance volume
- Linear regression line
- Comparison price stream -- once its price stream has been
retieved
- Select the required line drawing type (lines are drawn when you
drag the mouse):
- None
- Freehand
- Straight lines only
- Fibonacci retrace lines
- Set the cursor options
- Toggle between local & global scaling of the main price stream
- Repaint the chart
- "<","K" zoom starting date (left edge)

Daily, Weekly and Monthly price periods
Select the moving average type:
- SMA = Simple Moving Average
- WMA = Weighted Moving Average
- EMA = Exponentialy Weighted Moving Average
Note that the moving averages are always calculated off the closing
prices, even when a High or Low line chart is plotted
MACD: requires the size of both green & red MAs to be
greater than 0
Bollinger: 21 day simple moving average with range lines 1.5 x
StdDev away
RSI: Period = 14
Momentum: Period = 21
Stochastics: %K Period = 9, %K Smoothing = 3, %D Period = 3
The comparison line always plots close price, scaled to start
at the same level as the closing price of the main price stream on the
first visible date. This is intended for the comparison of the relative
growth of the two streams over the period that is displayed.
Java applets have problems retrieving prices if accessed from behind
a proxy server
