SFG restructuring justification SFG has admitted that the synergies expected between the various operating subsidiaries have not materialised and that the negotiations are addressing methods of restructuring SFG to rectify this.

New advisors for SFG restructuring SFG has appointed new advisors, Greenwich, for its proposed restructuring. Any proposal would be subject to shareholder, JSE and SRP approval. One effect of this delay is in stockbroker Equisec purchased in late 1998. The recapitalisation of Equisec needs to happen by 31 Mar 99 otherwise it loses its trading license. Equisec is currently on a voluntary trading capacity restriction and is taking only sell orders. Although still solvent, Equisec's future is uncertain.
