Sasol issues new bond Sasol has issued the first in a series of medium term notes, which is expected to be about R650m. The total series is expected to be approximately R2bn. The first issue will mature after 3 years and will carry a fixed coupon.

Sasol buys back its own shares Sasol has repurchased 18.2m of its own shares (3%) through a wholly owned subsidiary for a total consideration of R839m. The shares were acquired on the open market and the highest price paid was 4682c and the lowest 4402c. The repurchase was funded through Sasol's own cash resources and is an attempt to restructure the group's balance sheet. A further 7% may still be repurchased and any further repurchases will be funded through internal cash resources. The shares will be held by the subsidiary and will not be cancelled.
