SASOL AND AFROX SIGN R300 MILLION LPG AGREEMENT
African Oxygen Limited (Afrox) and Sasol have signed an agreement in which Sasol
will supply Afrox with liquid petroleum gas (LPG) in a contract worth R300
million over the next three years.
The agreement follows the expiry of the oil industry agreement at the end of
last year. This enables Sasol to supply petroleum products direct to the
market.
Afrox chief executive, Rick Hogben, says, "We have always enjoyed an excellent
relationship with Sasol. One of our carbon dioxide plants, for example, is
situated on their Sasolburg site where we purify a stream of raw carbon dioxide
and market it. We also supply Sasol with their cylinder gases and welding
products requirements and we have commissioned on-site stores at Sasolburg and
Secunda, to ensure superior service levels. It is pleasing now to conclude an
agreement where Afrox is a meaningful customer."
Sasol chief executive, Pieter Cox, says, "We are pleased to welcome Afrox back
as a long term liquid petroleum gas customer and are presently entering new
agreements with other South African petroleum industry role players. Afrox was
one of our first customers after the start-up of the Synfuels plant in Sasolburg
in the 1950"s and is a valued customer and supplier."
Afrox has retained its other service agreements to source LPG from all
refineries in South Africa to provide its large base of industrial and consumer
LPG users.
Afrox supplies LPG under its Handigas brand in bulk to customers requiring large
volumes and in various sizes of low-pressure cylinders for customers requiring
smaller quantities.
