Appointment of Director
In terms of Rules 3.59 to 3.62 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements,
shareholders are advised that Chris Smyth has been appointed as Chief Financial
Officer and Financial Director of Pinnacle with effect from 16 March 2011.
Chris holds the following qualifications: B.Comm, Dipl Acc (Natal), CA (SA).
Chris was General Manager of Operations at SAA from May 2007 until now, in which
he was responsible for the airline`s pilots, cabin crew, global operations
control, in-flight logistics, customer care, airports and terminal staff at all
the airports SAA serves, aviation security and aviation safety.
He also acted as SAA`s CEO for the 2009/2010 financial year in between the
previous CEO, Khaya Ngqula and the present incumbent, Siza Mzimela. He was an
integral part of the team that restructured and turned SAA around from an R880m
net loss for the year ended March 2007 into a R580m profit during the 2009/2010
financial year.
He has extensive financial experience in Africa having served as Group Financial
Director of Kenya Airways from 2001 to 2005 and then Chief Financial Officer of
Virgin Nigeria Airways from its start up in 2005 until he left to join SAA in
2007.
Prior to his African experience, Chris was Finance Executive at Radiospoor
Telecoms.
