Billiton agrees to earn-in joint venture
Billiton has agreed to an earn-in joint venture with Altius Minerals Corporation to explore areas of new nickel and minerals deposits in western Newfoundland, Alberta. The terms provide for Billiton's wholly owned subsidiary, Billiton Exploration Canada, an immediate exploration programme at a cost of C$55 000, in exchange for a 3 month earn-in joint venture agreement.

Billiton enters into joint venture
Billiton Indonesia BV and Billiton Coal Taraco BV, 2 wholly owned subsidiaries of Billiton Plc, have entered into a joint venture agreement with Winnin and PT Taraco Mining regarding coal exploration in Indonesia. Billiton and Winnin will acquire 51% and 9% of Taraco respectively for an amount of $1.2m.
