Sasol on NYSE 'sponsors of terrorism' list
Sasol is on an US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) list that names companies that operate in five countries that have been designated by the US state department as "state sponsors of terrorism", namely Iran, Cuba , Sudan, North Korea and Syria. Business Report noted that one of Sasol's three largest capital expenditure projects was in Iran. If the US government determines that its activities in Iran are investments in the petroleum industry, the US president may restrict Sasol's access to credit from US financial institutions; to procure goods, services and technology from the US; or place restrictions on Sasol's ability to make sales into the US.
