BHP - notice of 2020 interim dividend dates
The proposed dates for the 2020 interim dividend of BHP are set out below. BHP's Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) will operate in respect of the 2020 Interim Dividend. Full terms and conditions of the DRP and details about how to participate can be found at bhp.com.
2020 Interim Dividend
- Half Yearly Results Announcement and Dividend Determination : 18 February 2020
- Announcement of currency conversion into RAND : 28 February 2020
- Last day to trade cum dividend on JSE : 3 March 2020
- Ex-Dividend Date (JSE) : 4 March 2020
- Ex-Dividend Date (ASX, LSE and NYSE(2)) : 5 March 2020
- Record Date : 6 March 2020
- DRP and Currency Election date (including announcement of currency conversion for ASX and LSE) : 9 March 2020
- Payment Date : 24 March 2020
- DRP Allocation Date (ASX and LSE) within ten business days after the payment date : 7 April 2020
- DRP Allocation Date (JSE), subject to the purchase of shares by the Transfer Secretaries in the open market, CSDP accounts credited/updated on or about 7 April 2020

BHP - dividend exchange rate
On 20 August 2019, the board of BHP determined to pay a final dividend of USD78 cents per share for the year ended 30 June 2019. As noted in the dividend determination on 20 August 2019 the currency conversion for Australian cents, British pence and New Zealand cents will be based on the foreign currency exchange rates on the Dividend Reinvestment Election date, 9 September 2019, and for South African cents one week before the Record Date on the JSE Ltd., which was 30 August 2019.
The following table sets out the currency exchange rates applicable for the dividend:
Dividend 78 US cents per share : Exchange rate & Dividend per ordinary share in local currency
- Australian cents : 0.686000 & 113.702624
- British pence : 1.237500 & 63.030303
- New Zealand cents : 0.642984 & 121.309395
- South African cents : 15.232400 & 1188.127200
The dividend will be paid on 25 September 2019.
