Sasol my build new refinery
Commenting on Sasol building a new refinery the minerals and energy minister told Business Report, "Sasol has already indicated that it will establish a plant. We're just waiting for them to submit an application. Sasol declined comment.

Government may impose new tax on Sasol
In order for rising fuel prices to benefit the public the government announced that it may decide early in 2007 whether it would impose an investment-linked tax on oil companies, including Sasol. Business Day noted that benefits from increased oil prices by producers of synthetic fuel from gas and coal should be shared according to Trevor Manuel.

Sasol to post annual report by end of October 2006
On 12 September 2006 Sasol published its reviewed condensed provisional consolidated results (prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards) for the year ended 30 June 2006. There have been no significant changes to the information previously published in the provisional report. The audited annual financial statements, included in the annual report, will be published on the Sasol website when copies of the annual report are sent to holders of securities and the JSE before the end of October 2006. An announcement giving details of the annual general meeting will be published at the same time as the annual report is posted.

Sasol -- appointment of non-executive director
Sasol has announced the appointment of Mr Henk Dijkgraaf as a non-executive director with immediate effect. Mr Henk Dijkgraaf, a Dutch citizen and resident in the Netherlands, retired as the Chief Executive Officer of Gasunie Trade and Supply BV during September 2006.

Sasol's earnings forecast lowered
Merrill Lynch has lowered its earnings forecast for Sasol due to expected production delays in the company's key gas-to-liquids plant in Qatar. According to Business Day, Merill Lynch however still believes that Sasol will achieve solid earnings growth in the current financial year, setting a target price for the group at R350.

Sasol -- results of general meeting
Shareholders are advised that -
- a special resolution granting a specific authority to Sasol to acquire 60 111 477 ordinary shares in the issued ordinary share capital of Sasol from Sasol Investment Company (Pty) Ltd;
- a special resolution granting a general authority to Sasol and/or its subsidiaries to acquire Sasol's ordinary shares, by way of a general repurchase; and
- an ordinary resolution authorising any director or the secretary to do all things necessary to give effect to the special resolutions were passed at a General Meeting of Members on 3 October 2006.
