Sasol and PetroSa to sign co-operation agreement
Sasol, and state-owned fuel agency PetroSA were today, 8 Apr 04, expected to sign a co-operation agreement that could lead to joint projects and business ventures, the department of minerals and energy said yesterday. The companies would co-operate on related natural gas and chemical opportunities, and the agreement would commit them to furthering the petrochemical industry's black economic empowerment mandate. Pieter Cox, the chief executive of Sasol, told Business Report that a committee would be formed with PetroSA to evaluate potential joint projects, including natural gas and chemical opportunities, in respect of the Mossel Bay operation.

Sasol further cautionary announcement
Further to the announcement by Sasol and Petronas of Malaysia on 19 Feb 04 concerning the proposed merger of their respective interests in Sasol's Liquid Fuels Business and Engen in a joint venture to create a leading South African liquid fuels business. Sasol shareholders are advised that the parties are still involved in negotiations which, if successfully concluded, may have a material effect on the price of Sasol's securities. Shareholders are accordingly advised to continue exercising caution when dealing in Sasol securities until a full announcement is made.
