Sasol appoints financiers for Qatar gas plant
Sasol and Qatar General Petroleum have appointed fifteen banks to finance their USD700m construction of a 30 000 bbl/day Slurry Phase Distillate process facility in Qatar. The plant will be built at Ras Laffan in north-east Qatar, producing high quality diesel and naphtha.

Sasol wins Technology Top 100 award

Sasol appoints Gensec as dealer in paper programme
Sasol has appointed Gensec Bank to the dealer panel of its R4bn commercial paper programme. The programme has been running since the beginning of 2002, to meet Sasol's short-term borrowing requirements.

Sasol and St Andrews University in joint venture
Sasol has entered into a multi-million pound joint venture with the School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, to open a research laboratory. The laboratory will perform research into homogeneous catalysis - a process of making chemicals faster, less expensive, and more environmentally friendly.

Sasol signs deal with ExxonMobil
Sasol has signed an agreement with ExxonMobil Chemical Company to license ExxonMobil's high-pressure technology process for Sasol's new low-density polyethylene plant in Sasolburg, which will increase the capacity of plant sufficiently to meet market demand.

Sasol Central Processing Facility on target
Sasol's construction of the Central Processing Facility (CPF), the heart of the gas project in which gas will be piped from Mozambique to Secunda, is progressing well, and should be completed in Oct 03. The main function of the CPF is to clean and compress the gas before it enters the transmission pipeline to Secunda.

Sasol to work with communities affected by project
Sasol is embarking on a plan to work hand in hand with local communities in order to reduce harmful effects on the environment when its gas pipe from Mozambique to Secunda is being built. The company has allocated USD6m for any compensation claims which might arise from the pipeline project.

Sasol has increased its stake in China's Condea Nanjing Chemical to 100%. The plant will be renamed Sasol Chemicals.

Sasol to build new plastics plant
Sasol has announced that it intends to build a R2bn plastics plant in Sasolburg. The plant will produce 220 000 tons of low-density polythylene per year. The new works will be supplied with gas from Mozambique via the company's USD1.2bn pipeline project.
