Sasol focuses on West Africa Sasol is focusing its oil exploration on West Africa and believes that this will enable the group to achieve significant crude oil production. The group has made recent oil discoveries in the deep water, which is the source of new optimism in the industry. Sasol's involvement in Western Africa now includes Nigeria and Gabon.

Sasol to build plant in Secunda Sasol will spend about US$100m setting up a plant at Secunda to manufacture detergent alcohol products. This was due to the successful conclusion of the licensing agreement with UK based company Kvaerner Process Technologies. Sasol plans investments of about R23bn scheduled for the next 4 years are motivated by the company's strategic objective of growing its activities in the international market and its drive to become globally competitive. The new plant will be built and operated by the Alpha Olefins, a division of Sasol Chemical Industries.
